The Monroe County Health Council is a nonprofit organization focused on making Monroe County a healthier place to live, work, and raise a family. We work with local schools, churches, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other partners to meet the real needs of our community.
Our work centers around five priority areas:
Access to Healthcare – Helping people find and use the services they need
Nutrition & Fitness – Encouraging healthy habits through programs like Healthy Roots.
Substance Misuse & Crime Prevention – Supporting youth and families through prevention education, campaigns, and events like Drug Take Back Day
Domestic Violence Advocacy – Offering support and resources through Monroe STOPe for those experiencing abuse
Diabetes Awareness & Support – Promoting education and resources for managing and preventing diabetes
We host events throughout the year, offer free programs and classes, and connect families with helpful local resources. Most of our work is grant-funded, and we’re always looking for volunteers and community members who want to get involved.
