Vonore Musical Playground
Making Music Together: Vonore Celebrates Musical Playground

Music, laughter, and the sounds of children exploring instruments filled Vonore Heritage Park on Wednesday, October 28, as the Monroe Area Council for the Arts (MACA), community partners, and local families gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting and dedication of the Musical Playground.
The celebration brought together MACA board members, community leaders, and families attending Story Time at the nearby Vonore Public Library. Following the ribbon cutting, children had the opportunity to explore the playground's musical instruments, bringing the new space to life with their own creativity and curiosity.

Where Music, Reading, and Play Come Together
Made possible through SafePath grant funding, the Musical Playground offers children and families an engaging, accessible way to experience music while enjoying the outdoors.
The Musical Playground complements another SafePath-funded feature at Vonore Heritage Park: the Story Trail. Together, these spaces encourage children and families to explore the connections between reading, music, movement, and creative play.
The experience extends across the street to the Vonore Public Library, where a collection of children's books about music has also been donated. Families can enjoy stories about music during library Story Time, then visit the park to explore musical instruments and enjoy the Story Trail.
These connected resources create opportunities for learning and discovery that extend beyond the classroom and into the community.

During the dedication, MACA Board Vice-President Lisa Steible expressed appreciation for the many individuals and organizations whose support helped bring the project to life.
Special recognition was given to SafePath, Dr. Barbara Levin, the Town of Vonore, Alderman Lisa Hobbs, David Wiggins for his installation work, the Tennessee Department of Health, and the Monroe County Health Council, including Heather Rhymes and Gabi McKonkey for their contributions and support.
The celebration also welcomed representatives from the community, including Blaina Best of Monroe County Tourism, MACA board members, and local families.
The enthusiasm of the children exploring the instruments was a wonderful reminder of why community investments in the arts matter.
A Lasting Gift to Vonore Families
More than a collection of musical instruments, the playground represents an investment in creativity, learning, and community connection.
Through SafePath funding and strong community partnerships, Vonore Heritage Park now offers multiple ways for children and families to engage with music, reading, and outdoor play.
The Musical Playground and Story Trail are lasting community assets that will provide opportunities for discovery, imagination, and shared experiences for years to come.
MACA is grateful to everyone who helped make these projects possible and looks forward to seeing families enjoy these wonderful resources for generations to come.
Families are encouraged to visit the Musical Playground and Story Trail at Vonore Heritage Park, 619 Church Street in Vonore, and explore the music-themed children's books available at the Vonore Public Library.
