Adult & Senior Native American Acrylic Painting Class
Art, History, and Community at Cora Veal Senior Center
On April 24th, MACA, in partnership with SafePath Monroe County, and the Tennessee Arts Commission, sponsored a free Native American Indian acrylic painting class at the Cora Veal Senior Center in Madisonville.
Veronica Miller provided instruction and also gave an overview of the Cherokee Nation’s impact on our region, including Fort Loudoun, Sequoyah’s creation of the Cherokee syllabary, Tellico, the Trail of Tears, and connections to the Civil War.
Her painting was the inspiration for the class.
Participants then followed along to create the same beautiful painting, each adding their own personal touch along the way. The room was filled with focus, creativity, and a shared appreciation for both art and history.
We’re grateful to SafePath Monroe County, TN Arts Commission, and Veronica Miller for making this enriching, free experience possible for our community.
