Monroe Senior Center Project

Madisonville, TN – The Monroe County Senior Citizens and Friends, Inc. non-profit organization has successfully completed the first project funded by the TN Downtown Improvement Grant, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the heart of Madisonville. This project is the first of many aimed at revitalizing our downtown area and fostering a vibrant, welcoming community space.

$10,361.25 in grant funds were awarded toward a much-needed Monroe Senior Center parking lot improvement project, totaling $13,815.00.  The project required a 25% match funded by the organization. In addition to this project, the organization went on to enhance another adjacent parking lot area used by the Center.  These enhancements not only improve the aesthetic appeal of our downtown but also ensure that our senior citizens have a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment.

Madisonville Main Street Director, Karen Carey, and Downtown Madisonville Alliance Board President, Melanie Sloan, pictured along with Monroe Senior Center Director, Ermazo Freeman, are thrilled to see the first of many downtown improvement projects come to fruition.  The improvements at the Monroe Senior Center are a testament to the Alliance's commitment to making Madisonville a better place for all residents, setting the tone for the future of the downtown area.

The Downtown Improvement Grant was awarded to the Downtown Madisonville Alliance by the collaborative initiative of the TN Department of Economic Development and TN Main Street program. The grant is designed to allow TN Main Street programs to support local businesses and community organizations in enhancing their facilities. By providing funding for these projects, we are investing in the long-term prosperity of our downtown and ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike.

The Downtown Madisonville Alliance is grateful for the support from state of TN and the Downtown Improvement Grant, as well as the downtown Madisonville property owners who are willing to contribute toward their mission of revitalizing the downtown area.  Watch as more projects unfold in the coming months.

The Downtown Madisonville Alliance invites everyone to visit the Monroe Senior Center and see the improvements firsthand. We also encourage community members to stay engaged and participate in upcoming projects and events that will continue to enhance our beloved downtown area.
